The Journey

The Journey~
I was dreaming,
I jolted awake,
Knowing at last which path to take,
One route familiar, comfortable and safe,
The other, adventure, all at stake!

I tremble as I face my path,
The mountain is steep, the rocks are hard.

I take one step forward,
edging along,
Choosing this life means I have to be strong.

Another small step then I break out in sweat,
I turn to look back, yet I feel no regret.
This setting is tranquil,
No cloud in the sky,
and yet in the distance a bird starts to cry,
Then it circles around me,
it beckons me on...

I return to my journey,
I stumble along,
Approaching a huge rock,
I pull myself up,
Cling on with both hands
and try not to stop.

I dare not look down or
My body will freeze,
I take some small comfort,
from the heavenly breeze.

My climb, it continues,
I try not to falter,
The sun it beats down,
I have nothing to cool me,
I force myself onwards...

I arrive at the summit.

I lie down exhausted,
I close both my eyes,
I drift off to sleep at the edge of a mountain.

I cannot move on 'til I've taken a rest.
I sleep now- so deeply,
forgetting my fears,
the breeze sends me kisses,
a voice in my ear,
I open my eyes and find Hope beside me,
We smile at each other,
as we embrace.

My minds it explores
 the contours of my dreams,
No words can express,
the gratitude I feel.

My goal is in the distance
In a faraway land,
With Hope I'm united,
We journey together.

Not alone any longer.
